Taita Hills Wildlife Sanctuary
A private sanctuary at the foot of Kilimanjaro
The Taita Hills Wildlife Sanctuary is a private wildlife sanctuary located at the foot of Mount Kilimanjaro on the eastern edge of the southern Tsavo West National Park. Located in the flat plain to the east of the up to 2200m high chain of the Taita Hills covered with rain/cloud forests, you can see the backdrop of the primeval mountain slopes that were formed an estimated 30 million years ago. The landscape is characterized by savanna with bushes and rock formations.
Animal watching trips are possible not only in the game reserve itself, but also in the adjacent Tsavo West National Park.

When to travel?
The dry seasons from June to October and January to March offer the best game viewing — the animals then gather at the lodge's waterhole.
The climate is warm and dry. After rains the savannah blooms green and the view of Kilimanjaro can be especially clear. As part of a Tsavo safari, it is rewarding year-round.
